Cancer Isn't Worthy of Healthcare

My brother, 29, has never had the best of luck. He was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa in 2005, a disease of the retina which causes blindness. With no insurance and no cure or treatment available, we all accepted the fact that he would one day go blind, but on the bright side, he would live. Since then he has lost all night vision and peripheral vision. He can no longer drive, and needs a guide when walking at night. But still, all feats he can overcome.

Now, three years later my brother has discovered a lump in one of his testes. After visiting a clinic in Orange County, he is told it is cancer and he must get more specialized treatment. With a part-time job, no savings and no insurance my brother now must find a way to get himself treatment. He has so far applied for different programs that would allow him treatment, but, all have denied him. Nearing his 30th birthday, he is at a loss. Nowhere to go, no one to turn to.

Is our medical system so f****d up that they would endanger the life of a US citizen? How they can let someone remain ill just because they can not afford health is absurd to me! I have seen "SiCKO," and was perplexed by the American Health Care System, or lack thereof is more like it. For once I can honestly say I am not so proud to be an American.
