The Seven Thousand Dollar ER Visit

Sept. 2007 --- I paid my insurance on Sept 14th. on Sept 29th I had to go to the ER for pain in my back area --- so bad that I could not walk. Blood was drawn, CT scan taken --- v.s. and iv fluid (n.s.) I received IV-push morphine for the pain and was sent home with percocet for the pain and to f/u with my PCP.

I received a bill for $7,500.00 from the ER and two additional bills from the MD and another-- I can't remember who... The cost of an operation to remove your gallbladder does not cost this much. 

My insurance company stated that I was not insured... How can that be? Paid the insurance on the 14th and now on the 29th no coverage? Just received another request to pay a reduced amount to the hospital of $5,325.000 ? Funny! I wrote them back and told them to get the money from the insurance company.
